Florian Fauth of Seehof is good-natured and comfortable in his own skin; his wines share the same sentiments. His Rieslings are clean, pure examples of what can be done when grown in limestone soils, showcasing the rich marbly texture contrasted by energetic acidity. This competitively priced "basic" estate Riesling is hard to beat for taste, vivacity, and value.

Fifth-generation winemaker Florian runs the estate located in Westhofen, with vines in three of the most prestigious vineyards around the village: Kirchspiel, Morstein and Steingrube. This area of the Rheinhessen is characterized by limestone soils, which give the wines richness and a firm structure, but also great fruit purity and a saline minerality. The Rheinhessen is Germany's driest wine-producing region and also its sunniest, which adds to the concentration found in many of the region's wines.

For Florian, most of his work is done in the vineyard, making sure the ripeness and phenolic complexity is there, without the corresponding alcohol and glycerol heft. He is a master at achieving this delicate balancing act, and as a result, his wines are absolutely dazzling. This Riesling Trocken is a truly exceptional Rheinhessen bottling that showcases the power and richness of the region, along with its elegance and class.

On the nose, aromas of salted grapefruit, golden delicious apple and candied lemon effortlessly plume from the glass. The palate is laser-focused with a saline minerality and a mix of stone fruit and citrus flavors. There is excellent concentration of flavor which is impeccably balanced by a racy, crystalline acidity, giving the impression of feather-weight body and gossamer mouthfeel. The wine is tightly-wound and once it springs into your mouth the energy released is invigorating. The finish is long and vivacious, with a complex interplay of fruit and mineral flavors which elegantly float away.

This Riesling Trocken is fermented in stainless steel and ages for 4-5 months in tank before bottling.
