Revela (Mariana Salvador), Dão Alfrocheiro, Portugal 2024

Electric, juicy, and herbaceous.

100% Alfrocheiro sourced from vineyards with decomposed granite planted in 2003 at 360m above sea level in Serra de Estrela. Harvested by hand. Partial carbonic-maceration with 50% whole bunches and 50% destemmed fruit pressed halfway through fermentation into a mixture of stainless steel, glass demijohns and used 225L barrels for 6 months.

Mariana Salvador has spent her entire life amongst the vines. Her objective is to reveal the best of what Dão has to offer. She believes that you can only naturally translate varieties and terroir reveal by working painstakingly close with a handful of small, thoughtfully farmed vineyards.

The wines at Revela are all produced with Mariana’s philosophy in mind: keep the addition of sulfur to a minimum by moving the wine as little as possible, work reductively, and keep the wine as long as possible on the lees. She currently produces three wines, in minute quantity, in her spiritual home of the Dão.
