Nero d'AvolaAlto Realecomes from the vineyards on the slopes of the hills of Tenuta Rapitalà at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level. This single vineyard wine is organic, fresh, and smooth withmedium-plus acid, ripe tannin, and a medium-to full body. Cherry, blackberry, plum, blueberry, licorice, pepper, sweet tobacco, and vanilla excite the palate. Pairs well with roasts, braised meats or rabbit.
In 1968, the French-born Count Hugues Bernard de la Gatinais, and his wife Gigi Guarrasi, inherited this estate from the Guarrasi family after it was destroyed by an earthquake. The winery was soon rebuilt and vineyards were replanted. At the forefront of the quality revolution in Sicily, Tenuta Rapitalà was one of the first five producers on the island to offer estate bottled wines, starting with the 1976 vintage.
