The grapes used to make “Il Favot” come from vineyards which have undergone periodic plantations, and so have a maximum age of 15 years. The skin contact is limited to 6-8 days as to extract few tannins and more color from the skins themselves, with the result of getting a well-colored wine with a remarkable softness.
After spending a few months in stainless steel vats and being transferred several times, the wine is then put in oak casks, where it remains for a few months before being bottled.
Poderi Aldo Conterno belongs to an elite group of historical Barolo producers who have truly shaped the history of winemaking in the Langhe. Aldo Conterno's Gran Bussia is universally acknowledged as one of the finest interpretations of Barolo.
Aldo bought the “Favot” farm and thereafter founded “Poderi Aldo Conterno” in 1969. The farmhouse is situated in the Bussia hamlet, a section of the Monforte d’Alba village. The farm comprises about 25 hectares of vineyards considered to be some of the very best plots in all of the Langhe.
