Oddero is one of the great, historic, traditional Barolo houses with a long history spanning over 200 years. They first produced a Vigna Rionda bottling with the 1985 vintage. It is only made in exceptional years.
Sourced from their .77 hectare parcel at the crest of the historic Rionda vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba. The soil is made of layers of marl, limestone, sandstone and sand.
Grapes are hand-harvested in early October; they are then fermented and macerated for 17 days in stainless steel. Bottled in December, it then spends about 5 years in bottle in the cellar before release. The family decided that they will only release this wine 10 years after the harvest date.
