Domaine Zind Humbrecht, Pinot Blanc, Alsace, France 2021
Domaine Zind Humbrecht, Pinot Blanc, Alsace, France 2021
This wine is traditionally made from a blend of 70% Auxerrois and 30% Pinot Blanc originating equally from two vineyards whose combination of both red marl limestone and gravelly soil allows Zind Humbrecht to find the perfect balance.
The wine has a lovely pale yellow color. The nose is still restrained but opens quickly to beautiful, ripe white fruit aromas. The palate has an impressive presence and length, good weight, velvety texture, and a very enjoyable balance. This wine is richer and more intense than most previous vintages.
The two grape varieties complement each other very well: Auxerrois (like Chardonnay) descends from Pinot-Blanc — it is however slightly more precocious and more aromatic than Pinot-Blanc, which conversely usually has a firmer structure and higher acidity.
