Château Kirwan, Red Bordeaux Blend, Margaux, Bordeaux, France 1975

Château Kirwan, Red Bordeaux Blend, Margaux, Bordeaux, France 1975

* * * Acquired from a private collection. This wine was actively cellar-stored by its owner, and we have also kept it in our temperature-controlled cellar since receiving it. Due to its age, the wine's fill line is at mid-shoulder in the bottle. * * *

A savory and classic red Bordeaux.

Château Kirwan is a Third Growth Bordeaux. It was founded in 1710 and was one of the few Médoc properties that Thomas Jefferson, Ambassador to France at the time, visited on his Bordeaux wine tasting trip.

Château Kirwan is quite close to the same size today as it was at the time of the 1855 Classification. It remains one of the few Classified Growths to be the same size and terroir as when originally classified.
