The 2024 Benoni Pinot Noir from Red Hill Douglas County opens immediately with lifted red berry aromatics, savory spice and a touch of floral notes. On the palate, the wine is precise and energetic: red raspberry and wild strawberry at the core, with black tea, spice and subtle earth adding dimension. The tannins are fine and integrated, the acidity is vivid and the finish is long, cool and detailed. It is effortless to drink yet quietly serious — a high-toned, site-driven Pinot Noir.
Benoni Pinot Noir remains a clear, distinctive expression of Red Hill Douglas County and a compelling window into Oregon’s new era of finely balanced, lower alcohol, terroir-focused Pinot. A charming, fresh Oregon Pinot to enjoy with grilled salmon or a classic roast chicken.
Due to its elevation and lack of Coast Range protection, Red Hill Douglas County experiences cooler growing season temperatures than many other growing areas of Oregon. The soil is iron-rich, red volcanic (known as Jory) that are nearly identical to the terroir found in Dundee Hills of Willamette Valley.
Ages approximately 7-8 months in a combination of French oak barrels and stainless steel.
