100% Cabernet Franc

Roasted red pepper, dark violets, black plum, suede, tobacco, eucalyptus and graphite on the nose. The palate shifts to dark plum and perfectly ripe blackberries; well integrated tannins and a precise, structured finish with stone and pomegranate.

Lieu Dit Cabernet Franc is practicing organic. Sourced from 300ft elevation vines planted at the Happy Canyon Vineyard on the east side of the Santa Ynez Valley. The soil is clay loam with serpentine cobble.

The wine is fermented using native yeast, with 50% whole clusters. Once dry, they rack the juice and press off the whole cluster lots. The wine is transferred to neutral oak barrels for the winter. Aged in 5+ year old French oak.

Lieu Dit is a partnership of longtime friends Eric Railsback and Justin Willett. The two met in Santa Barbara while Eric was finishing college and Justin was just beginning his career in winemaking. The two were among a small group of young winemakers and restaurateurs in Santa Barbara unified by a common interest in wine and all its mysteries.
