Au Bon Climat, Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County, California 2023
Au Bon Climat, Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County, California 2023
The 2021 Pinot Noir crop ripened slowly and evenly. The result was a nose loaded with dark fruits. A smokey, plummy note is first noticed and then fresher strawberry, cherry/berry aromas slowly become evident. It has a deep ruby color that foretells a mouth-filling intensity. This is not a wine that will take time to express its potential; it is a rich and satisfying experience even at this young age.
Au Bon Climat sources fruit from several of the most highly regarded vineyards in the Central Coast. These include Clendenen’s own vineyards, Le Bon Climat and Rancho La Cuna, in addition to estate plantings at the legendary Bien Nacido Vineyard. Other key resouces are Sanford & Benedict Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills, Los Alamos Vineyard (Santa Barbara County), and Runway Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley.
The winery has cultivated an international reputation for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that are classically styled wines of balance, restraint and longevity.
