Notes of cherry, pepper and tobacco with a hint of wet clay. An herbal freshness on the palate, with very fine tannins and a persistent finish. Elegant, with delicate fruit and a distinct Atlantic character.

The wine ferments for a month in oak, then ages for 10 months in the same oak.

“Puro,” the Portuguese word for pure, is a project from renown winemaking partners Nuno Mira do Ó and João Soares who came together with a desire to create distinctive wines featuring the country’s rich varietal heritage. Their discovery of ancient vineyards in Bairrada with vines between 80 to 120 years of age sealed their partnership.

The duo seeks to unlock the wonderful, fresh, intense flavors that old vines of Bairrada have to offer. The Atlantic influence in the Mediterranean climate combined with clay and limestone soils create unique wines of place.
