Domaine Louis Michel, Chardonnay, Chablis Premier Cru "Séchets" Burgundy, France 2019

Another highlight is the 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Séchets, a medium to full-bodied, layered and incisive wine evocative of green apple, Anjou pear, beeswax, mint and iodine. Mineral and concentrated, it has turned out very well indeed.  Definite lemon colour, the nose is clearly finer than the Vaillons. Clean, pure, attractive depth of fruit here and perfectly balanced. Picked the same day as Vaillons at a higher sugar level (13.4%), yet I prefer it. Yes, a few peaches emerge at the back and there is a little bit more flesh on the bones, but the balance feels just right.
