The Domaine Bois De Boursan Châteauneuf-du-Pape is produced from 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, 5% other traditional varietals.
The Bois de Boursan classic red Châteauneuf-du-Pape accounts for approximately 85% of the annual production of the estate. It's traditional, full-bodied, and bursting with flavors of black fruit and underlying tobacco notes. The tannins are upfront but not aggressive. This is a Châteauneuf that can be enjoyed in its youth for its incredible freshness, but that will also deliver after some years of aging.
The grapes for the wine are not destemmed, the cuvaison lasts for three weeks and the élevage encompasses an additional eighteen months before the wine is bottled unfiltered. Certified organic.
The Bois de Boursan, founded in 1955 by Jean Versino (current vigneron Jean-Paul’s father), is a ten-hectare domaine with the entirety of its vineyards situated within the confines of the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The Versino family manages twenty-seven separate parcels of vineyards; the average age of the vines is in excess of fifty years. The domaine is worked organically without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
