Balnaves, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, Australia 2012

91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot
Seductive nose. Blueberry, cassis and black currants, hints of herb and mint, smoke, wet earth and coffee/ mocha tones. Front and mid palates show powerful concentration but the wine remains light on its feet. The tannins are firm and mouth coating. Dark berry and mocha tones linger.
The Balnaves Coonawarra Vineyard was established in 1975 and is situated at the southern end of the Coonawarra Terra Rossa strip. The family has been associated with the district since 1855 and remain fully committed to a high level of hands-on involvement.
Blended from the estate's Dead Morris, Walker, and Quarry vineyards, this wine spent 20 months in tight-grain French oak before bottling. Decanting recommended.
