Mineral-driven and ripe, this wine offers baked apple and roasted pear flavors backed by firm acidity. Long and smoky on the finish. This is a gorgeous, layered expression of Riesling that will appeal to your tastebuds with its fine balance of sun-drenched fruit, elevated acidity, and richness.

30 year old vines in granite soil, 300-600 meters above sea level. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel. Aged for eight months on the fine lees.

The Proidl family have been in Seftenberg since 1650, when they fled their native Bremen (in present-day Germany) during the Thirty Years’ War. By 1738 they were established in the wine trade. The family business is now run by the ninth and tenth generations. Their sweeping and steep vineyards total twenty-five hectares of vines in the most notable Kremstal single vineyard sites: Ehrenfels, Hochäcker, Pellingen, Pfenningberg and Rameln.

The driest and steepest slopes are planted to Riesling. The family's long roots have resulted in a lot of knowledge in dealing with the steep slopes. A lively, meaningful tradition emerges from the tension between the experience of generations and the curiosity about everything worth knowing. The winemakers at Proidl are craftsmen, mountain winegrowers with a past and present.
